Chapter Co-Founders

Who We Are

We are Quinn and Joey, lifelong enthusiasts of the Spanish language and its diverse cultures since Kindergarten. Through our Burlingame Public School’s Spanish Immersion program (K-8), we met Eliseo Riveras, an inspiring teaching intern from El Salvador. He left a lasting impact on our community with his positive spirit and enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and bringing people together.

When Eliseo returned to El Salvador, he founded Cascarita & Cascaron, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting educational opportunities for students in Teotepeque. Inspired by his mission and with his support, we established the Cascarita & Cascarón Club at Burlingame High School (BHS) in 2023 to foster a cultural exchange between BHS students and Cascarita & Cascarón students in El Salvador.

What We Do

We regularly meet by Zoom to explore our respective cultural traditions and customs to promote understanding, appreciation, and community. We also fundraise to help support Cascarita & Cascarón’s goals of providing learning supplies to students, as well as scholarships to attend college at Universidad de El Salvador.
